Tajikistan or officially Republic of Tajikistan (the population 6,800,000), 55,251 square miles (143,100 square kilometers), central Asia, formerly a constituent republic of the USSR. It borders China (East); Afghanistan (South); Kyrgyzstan (North); and Uzbekistan (West, North West). The largely mountainous nation has what was the USSR's highest mountain, Ismoil Somoni Peak (24,590 feet or 7,495 meters). The majority of the populations are Tajiks, a Sunni Muslim people; Uzbeks and Russians are the largest minorities. The official language is Tajik, which is closely related to Persian (Farsi).

Dushanbe city is the capital of Tajikistan. The national currency is Somoni (01. 04/2005= 1$-3.40 Somoni, 1Euro = 3.99 Somoni,). Other important cities are Hujand, Kulob, Panjakent, Zarafshon, Tursunzoda, Horug, Uroteppa, Isfara and Qurghonteppa. Probably descended from the inhabitants of ancient Sogdiana, a Persian province between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya, one of the greatest Tajik’s state was Samanid’s state. The Tajiks were successful in farming, crafts, and trade. In 1929 it became the Tajik SSR, a constituent republic of the USSR

Tajikistan declared its independence in 09 September in 1991. Tajikistan is a member of the Commonwealth Independent States. Tajikistan has the second richest water reserves in the former Soviet territory after Russia and the first in the Central Asia region. Tajikistan has rich water reserves and could turn into a country capable of providing Central Asian states with water (55,6% fresh water of Central Asia). Currently, some of the states in the region, notably Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, have asked Tajikistan to help them with water supply. That means Tajikistan could meet the needs of the countries in the region. In other words, Tajikistan could export water to neighbouring states and receive a great deal of money in its budget. Tajikistan is leader in fresh water and barrages and also in transmission, production and distribution of electricity in Central Asia. Tajikistan has numerous partners across the world. Tajikistan has been transformed from a socialist, centralized economy to a market economy. Most importantly, we have complex and developed industry that offers economy of scale not available else where in Central Asia. We have a young, high qualified and motivated work force and we are keen to discuss all forms of partnerships that will bring new drilling technology as well as investment funds. The product market has been opened to international competitions. Investment, both foreign and domestic, is fundamental to unlocking Tajikistan’s potential. Potential investors in Tajikistan have access to all our divisions for transfers and payments, import export finance. We want to have partnerships on a technical rather than a financial basis. With the opening up of other sectors, we saw the possibility of branching out into new services. The privatization process, therefore, needs to accelerate to put the Tajikistan economy on a world level, and to ensure productive links in trade and investment. The government is focusing on reinforcing the market economy. For more infomatio about Tajikistan you cn search these web-sites:
